What
Is Managed Reporting?
Managed reporting is the opposite
of ad-hoc reporting. It is also known as scheduled reporting
or canned reporting. With managed reporting, reports
can be scheduled in advance and then delivered to each
recipient.
On-demand reporting – Pre-designed
reports can either be run on-demand or scheduled to
run at a particular time.
Report delivery – With Cognos
8 BI, reports can be delivered by email or to an area
on the Cognos portal where the appropriate users (but
not anyone else) can access them.
Burst reporting – a report
is split up then sections of it are delivered to different
users or groups of users. For example, a report might
be burst on department, and a sub-report delivered for
each department.
Dashboards – dashboards provide a high-level view
of KPIs you wish to track. Data is typically a combination
of spreadsheet views and charts, from which you can
drill down into more detailed anaysis
Portal Pages - In Cognos 8 an
unlimited number of ‘portal pages’ can be
set up. These are individual web pages accessible only
to particular users and user groups. The portal pages
can contain
· A menu of Cognos 8 BI
reports
· Dashboards
· KPI scorecards
· Links to web pages
· Pre-run report output
· Charts
… and more
Portal pages can also be set up
through your organisation’s Intranet so you can
access your vital information without having to access
the Cognos portal at all
